Passing a small copse of Holm Oak trees where a hammock has been slung and around the corner of the villa, the view of mountains dotted with villages unfolds in all its magnificence. The pale pastel rose facade of the villa and beautiful pool at one with the serenely peaceful backdrop of rural Crete and the White Mountains, occasionally still snow topped very early in the season. Villa Galania has been constructed in an atmospheric period style thanks to the skillful use of simple local materials. Location Set on a small hill above the village of Armeni and only 800 metres from Armeni village square, Villa Galania is ideally placed to enjoy the rural idyll whilst still being within reasonable walking distance of the choice of tavernas, cafenion and cafe in the village. The sandy beaches of Kalives and Kyani are just 5 minutes drive away. Villa Galania is well placed for discovering this western side of the island, being a convenient 5 min drive to the junction to the east-west highway and thus an easy 30 min trip into Chania. The villa's landscaped gardens have been chiseled out of the stony Cretan hillside and there’s even a pretty aviary holding a host of small birds at the entrance. Location Villa Amvrosia sits on a hillside on the edge of the small and charming village of Armeni where there is a choice of tavernas, a coffee shop, minimarket and butcher/deli. There are deliveries of fresh, locally baked bread to the small cafenion of Michael's in the centre. Just 4.3 kms away, the low key seaside resort of Kalyves has lovely shallow shelving sandy beaches and a good choice of tavernas by the waters edge. Beyond Kalyves is the next seaside village of Almyrida which again has shallow waters and sandy beaches plus numerous tavernas and cafes. Chania Venetian Harbour is easily reached, approx 20kms away.
