Description
As comfortable and well equipped as the interior of this Villa is, it is the outside space which really singles it out. On the edge of a scattering of select Villas, privacy is secured by natural rock faces, gardens and open hillsides on two aspects so that the gardens really feel as though they are in a world set apart with mature plantings with paths, terraces and little sitting areas all blessed with a picture book view framed by the sea. In the foreground are olive groves, hillsides and the white and pastel coloured walls and church tower of the Village of Upper Stalos, which is, incidentally within walking distance for those who are fit enough to take on the 1 km hilly walk.
Location
On the edge of a scattering of select Villas, it is just 1km from the village of Upper Stalos where there area a couple of traditional tavernas offering exceptional local cooking. The closest beach of Stalos, long and sandy, is less than five minutes away by car. Chania, whose twinkling lights reveal themselves on the night scene, is approximately 15 minutes drive. Great location to get to the coastline but come away to the hillside villa to enjoy the views and peaceful surroundings.
Outside Villa Clio
Swimming Pool - free form tiled pool (1m to 1.6m deep) which has 'chemical free' natural filtration is supplemented by two smaller children’s pools, from which water spills over into the main pool. Please note that small children will need to be supervised at all times in the smaller pools and older children must not jump or dive from one pool to another owing to the shallow depths.
Sea View Pool Terrace - tiled sun terrace with sunbeds and umbrellas
Covered Terrace - dining table and chairs, overhead fan.
Sea View Garden Terrace - chairs and table.
Garden - pretty garden with paths between flower beds, built-in BBQ, table and bench seating. Small grassy area with shade.

Wonderful villa perfect place to unwind. Pool is excellent and not chlorinated. Coming back from a day out to find a home baked surprise was amazing too. Eleni does a superb job of keeping the villa in tip top condition, it made us feel very special see more

Fantastic villa with super views.
Very peaceful but close to amenities and beaches.
Went mid June for 8 nights, temps 28 to 39C.
It would be quite helpful if people who go out of season could comment on temperatures. We would like to go earlier/latersee more

We are a family of five and this was our second time staying at Villa Clio as we so enjoyed it first time around. The location is wonderful with views down to the sea, a lovely pool and we loved eating dinner on the outside grill. Villa very clean ansee more

The location is wonderful with views down to the sea, a lovely pool and we loved eating dinner on the outside grill. Villa very clean and well-equipped. We also really enjoyed walking along to the local village in Upper Stalos to eat at the wonderful taverna. Great location for exploring western Crete and for just chilling at the lovely villa! Me, my husband and our 2 teenage girls, just came back from a wonderful holiday at Villa Clio. Everything went smoothly from the first contact with Freelance, to check in and finally after a lovely week, the check out. The driving instructions on how to get to the house was very precise. The house was super clean and contained everything that we needed for a relaxed holiday. There was even a little surprise for us in the fridge to welcoming us properly to the villa. There was a nice book for guests, with plenty of information on how to explore the island, what to see, do and where to eat. And some very good information about living on the island in general. The bedrooms all has a separate bathroom and air conditioner. The beds were super comfy with a huge quilt and comfortable pillows. And there were plenty of room for clothing. We appreciated the cooler indoor from time to time, though there is good shaded places outside as well. One with a great BBQ for self-cooking. And of course the lovely pool, witch we enjoyed to the fullest, was a fantastic plus, either for daytime funchilling at night with a glass of wine. All in all we REALLY enjoyed our stay at Villa Clio and we hope that we someday will be able to return to beautiful Crete

We had a fabulous stay. The pre-holiday communications were excellent and the arrival instructions detailed and spot on - especially the driving instructions. The nearest Taverna (which is also one of the best in the area) is only 750m away - it is asee more
We had a fabulous stay. The pre-holiday communications were excellent and the arrival instructions detailed and spot on - especially the driving instructions. The nearest Taverna (which is also one of the best in the area) is only 750m away - it is a hilly walk but I am middle-aged and slightly overweight and managed it with only a little huffing and puffing. The walk to the beach takes just over 20 mins but taking a car is more sensible as this takes 5 mins. The villa was very clean on arrival and amenities excellent. The pools were bigger than expected - which was welcome. The views to the ocean are outstanding and we spent a couple of nights star gazing and meteor spotting. The host team quickly responded to our queries and were very helpful. It was a great base from which to visit the various beaches and sights in the area. All in all - a great family holiday.

This is an excellent, top range villa. The outside space has many communal areas in which to sit on an evening (we couldn’t decide which was the best). It is beautifully lit and has a wonderfully quirky pool. Inside, the rooms are all air conditioned, good size beds all with own bathroom. The kitchen was really well equipped and the welcome pack was a nice gesture. The town of Stalos is a 5 minute drive (we would really recommend you hire a car, as to get the awesome views, you have to climb a few hills). It is also really useful to have a management team on hand. We had one small issue (nothing to do with villa) which Diane and her team sorted out within the hour. We loved the place and will definitely consider coming back again.
